Breather Housing

The main function of the excavator breather housing is to control the pressure inside the crankcase and prevent oil leaks.

The breather is a one-way valve that controls the pressure inside the crankcase to prevent oil leaks. When there is excess pressure in the crankcase, the breather opens to release the excess pressure. Once the pressure is relieved, the breather closes to maintain a negative pressure in the crankcase. Additionally, the breather can separate oil and fuel vapors from the exhaust gases, serving to filter the crankcase’s exhaust air. During engine operation, while most of the exhaust air is expelled through the exhaust valve, some heavier gases may still enter the crankcase. In this case, the breather becomes a crucial device for filtering these exhaust gases, ensuring the cleanliness and efficient operation of the engine system.

Furthermore, the proper functioning of the breather is essential for the normal operation of the engine. If the breather encounters issues, such as blockage by external dust, it can lead to an increase in pressure inside the crankcase, potentially causing engine overheating or oil leaks.
