Overload Relief Valve Component

The main function of the excavator overload relief valve assembly is to provide overload protection.

The overload relief valve assembly remains closed during normal operation of the system. When the load exceeds a specified limit (i.e., when the system pressure exceeds the set pressure), the relief valve opens to provide overload protection, preventing the system pressure from increasing further. This protection mechanism typically sets the relief valve’s pressure at 10% to 20% higher than the system’s maximum working pressure to ensure safe operation under extreme working conditions, avoiding damage due to overload.

In addition, the relief valve has the following functions:

1.Constant Pressure Relief**: In a throttling adjustment system with a fixed displacement pump, when the system pressure increases, the relief valve opens, allowing excess flow to return to the tank, thus maintaining a constant inlet pressure at the relief valve, which corresponds to the pump’s outlet pressure.

2.Pressure Stabilization**: The relief valve is connected in series in the return line, creating back pressure that increases the stability of moving components.

3.System Unloading**: An electromagnetic valve is connected to the remote control port of the relief valve. When the solenoid is energized, the hydraulic pump is unloaded, and the relief valve functions as a unloading valve.

These functions of the relief valve collectively ensure the safety and efficiency of the excavator under various working conditions.
