The main function of the excavator wedge oil cylinder is to provide lifting force, enabling various actions of the excavator.

In contrast, the cylinder located near the throttle is a single-acting cylinder, typically used for devices with shorter strokes, where the return of the piston needs to rely on an internal return spring or external force.
