Coupling

The primary function of the couplings in an excavator is to connect two shafts or a shaft with a rotating component, allowing them to rotate together while transmitting motion and power, and also providing overload protection.

A coupling is a mechanical component used to securely connect the driving shaft and driven shaft in different mechanisms, enabling them to rotate together and transmit motion and torque. It can connect shafts to other parts (such as gears, pulleys, etc.) and has the ability to compensate for misalignments that may occur due to manufacturing inaccuracies, deformations during operation, or thermal expansions. This includes axial, radial, angular, or combined misalignments. Additionally, couplings can dampen impacts, absorb vibrations, and enhance the dynamic performance of the shaft system, thus protecting the connected machine components from excessive loads.

In heavy machinery like excavators, the role of the coupling is particularly important. It not only ensures smooth operation between the various components of the excavator but also helps absorb vibrations and shocks generated during operation, protecting the machine from damage and extending its lifespan and safety.
