Introducing Scania Engines

Table of Contents

When mentioning Scania, the first thing that comes to mind is its world-famous trucks and buses. As one of the leading manufacturers of heavy trucks and buses globally, Scania’s products are sold in over 100 countries and regions. In reality, Scania is also one of the largest manufacturers of industrial engines in the world, with a wide range of applications in industrial machinery.

Founded in 1891 and headquartered in Södertälje, Sweden, Scania is one of the most profitable companies in the global commercial vehicle industry, largely due to its technologically advanced modular system. Scania’s product range includes trucks, buses, engines, and automotive services.

Scania engines have relatively fewer applications in industrial machinery, primarily focusing on equipment such as mobile crushers. The Scania 9-liter (five-cylinder) and 13-liter (six-cylinder) engines are mainstream models widely used in construction machinery from brands like Doosan. The Scania 16-liter V8 engine is used in 80-ton equipment from brands like SANY.

Today, let’s take a closer look at Scania’s engine product lineup.

Scania’s engine product series includes three models: DC09, DC13, and DC16, with displacements of 9 liters, 13 liters, and 16 liters, and power ranging from 180 to 580 horsepower. These engines are mainly applied in trucks, buses, coaches, delivery vehicles, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, generator sets, and ships.

DC09 Engine: 9 liters, 5 cylinders, with a maximum output of 250 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1250 Nm, primarily used in trucks, buses, coaches, delivery vehicles, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, and generator sets.
