The main role of the excavator engine cylinder liner includes the following aspects:

Protecting the engine cylinder wall: the cylinder liner is located inside the engine, and its main role is to protect the engine cylinder wall from wear and damage. It can prevent the cylinder wall from wearing out due to the high temperature and high pressure gas and the high-speed movement of the piston, thus prolonging the service life of the engine.

Guiding and supporting the piston: the cylinder liner provides guidance and support for the reciprocating motion of the piston to ensure that the piston can work properly, reduce friction and wear, and ensure the stable operation of the engine.

Heat dissipation: The cylinder liner can transfer the heat from the piston assembly and itself to the cooling water to ensure that the engine operates at a suitable working temperature and prevent damage caused by overheating.

Sealing: Cylinder liner and cylinder head, piston together constitute a closed cylinder workspace, to ensure that gas expansion, suction, compression and exhaust processes can be carried out smoothly.

Excavator engine cylinder liner classification and maintenance precautions:

Material: excavator cylinder liner is divided into cast iron cylinder liner and aluminum alloy cylinder liner according to material. Cast iron cylinder liners are sturdy and have a longer life; aluminum alloy cylinder liners are lighter, increase engine speed and power, and have a stronger heat dissipation capacity1.

Maintenance and Replacement: Regularly change the oil and oil filter to ensure clean lubricating oil; regularly replace the cylinder liner according to the manufacturer’s requirements to avoid aging; check and maintain the sealing of the cylinder liner to prevent water, gas and other liquids from seeping in; avoid over-acceleration and sharp turns and other driving styles to reduce wear and tear; pay attention to avoiding overheating of the engine.
