Engine cylinder gasket is an elastic sealing element placed between the cylinder block and cylinder head. Due to the impossibility of absolute flatness between the cylinder block and cylinder head, cylinder head gaskets are required to prevent high-pressure gas, lubricating oil, and cooling water from escaping between them. Its main functions are as follows:
Sealing function: Keep the cylinder sealed to prevent gas, coolant, and oil leakage.
Buffer function: Absorbs and buffers the impact force generated by the cylinder during operation, protecting the cylinder block and cylinder head.
Thermal insulation function: reduces the transfer of heat generated by the cylinder during operation to the cylinder head, protecting the cylinder head from high temperatures.
2、 Position of engine cylinder gasket
The engine cylinder gasket is located between the cylinder head and the cylinder block, with the cylinder head on top, the cylinder block on the bottom, and the cylinder gasket in the middle. The cylinder gasket is tightly fixed to these two by bolts.
